Additions



If you LOVE the location of your home but you need more space, then an addition is for you! Pushing the walls out of a tiny kitchen, adding bedrooms over the garage, transforming the family room into an indoor-outdoor living space are all possibilities of an addition.

Additions can take advantage of a terrific view. View property increases in value as less of it becomes available in urban environments. It can also provide many amenities that do not exist in the present property such as walk-in closets, master suites, offices, downstairs bedrooms and upstairs family room/dining room expansion.

An addition can also be another building, if the property size allows, such as an outdoor kitchen, a workshop, a mother-in-law cottage, a studio or an additional garage.

Addition construction is the most expensive of remodeling projects. If you live in the house during an addition construction, it could be uncomfortable. It requires making certain the property has the size to allow more of a building. Additionally, additions require footers, foundations, new roof lines and mechanical connections such as plumbing, heating and electricity. Having said that, Colorado has a long record of property appreciation. Typically, if you can stay in a remodeled house at least five years, you should break even or make a profit on your addition.
